Maintenance Technician

Position Summary
The full-time position of maintenance technician is a vital role at Strength with major responsibilities. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing repair and maintenance on equipment in an industrial facility. This person reports directly to the Plant Manager and works closely with plant personnel and outside contractors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is also frequently exposed to high, precarious places, potential fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud. The typical schedule is Monday — Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM but must have the flexibility to work all hours as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
Supports the integration of new equipment and processes
Reports to management on overall equipment health and preventative maintenance
Creates and modifies preventative maintenance logs and recommendations
Able to properly use test equipment, heavy industrial shop tools and equipment, diagnose and trouble-shoot equipment malfunctions and systems failure
Excellent problem analysis and problem resolution skills
Able to handle multiple, complex priorities and balance the needs of each according to business impact
Able to perform the physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in awkward positions and tight areas)
Have thorough knowledge of metal fabrication (welding and cutting)
Have thorough knowledge of pipe fitting, pumps, hoses and flanges
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Possess good analytical, reasoning and justification skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Attend staff/safety meetings
Must have the ability to complete any documentation associated with all assigned tasks
Must possess the ability to recognize potential problems taking immediate and appropriate corrective action
Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA standards
Perform all repair and preventative maintenance duties to equipment: Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery
Strives for continuous improvement
Disassemble machinery and equipment to make repairs. Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters and other testing devices. Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs
Occasional need to drive to vendor’s locations to pick up needed parts or supplies
Support Plant Manager with other operational tasks as assigned
Perform other company tasks as assigned
Perform all tasks in accordance with company policies

Mathematical Skills-Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, distances, and lengths
Language Skills-Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of Strength Environmental
Reasoning Skills-Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Education and Experience
High School graduate or equivalent
3 years documented experience in plant operations
Valid Michigan driver’s license required, Michigan Boiler Operator’s and Chauffer’s license preferred
